If you have been struggling with bumpy skin, clogged pores, or acne that just won’t quit, you’ve probably been recommended this cleanser. It’s often marketed as a cheaper, gentler alternative to high-end chemical exfoliants.
I tested the The Derma Co 3% AHA-BHA Foaming Face Wash to see if it actually clears skin or just dries it out.
The Experience
Texture: It comes out as a light, airy foam (thanks to the pump). It feels very soft on the skin, not gritty or heavy.
Scent: It has a very mild, slightly chemical/medicinal scent. It’s not perfumed, which is great for sensitive noses, but it doesn’t smell “luxurious” either.
The “Tingle”: You might feel a very slight tingling sensation on active acne or sensitive areas, which tells you the acids are working

I recently started using the Plum 1% Encapsulated Salicylic Acid Foaming Face Wash (110 ml) and honestly, I’m really happy with it.
First thing I noticed is the texture — it comes out as a soft foam, which makes it super easy to use and very gentle on the skin. You don’t need a lot of product, and it spreads nicely. It feels lightweight and doesn’t leave that tight, stretchy feeling after washing.
I mainly bought this because I have oily, acne-prone skin, and this cleanser really helps control excess oil without over-drying. The 1% salicylic acid works well in keeping small breakouts under control, and I’ve noticed my pores look cleaner and less clogged. It gives that fresh, clean feeling without being harsh.
What I like most is that it balances the skin — it cleans deeply but doesn’t strip away moisture. After a week of use, my skin feels smoother and looks clearer. It’s also gentle enough to use daily.

I’ve been using The Derma Co 3% AHA-BHA Foaming Face Wash and it’s honestly a great budget-friendly option for oily and acne-prone skin. It contains glycolic acid (AHA) to gently exfoliate and salicylic acid (BHA) to unclog pores and reduce breakouts. The foam texture feels light and refreshing, and it doesn’t overly dry out the skin if used 2–3 times a week. It helps control oil and smooth skin texture, but if you have very dry or sensitive skin, it may feel a bit harsh. While it’s not a miracle for old acne scars, it works well for preventing new breakouts and keeping pores clean. Just don’t forget to moisturize and wear sunscreen if you’re using this regularly!
